Held since 1999 by the Liberal Democrats, the retirement of John Farquhar Munro and boundary changes made this much more of a marginal seat in 2011, though technically still a notional Liberal Democrat hold. Dave Thompson won it comfortably for the SNP, having been a Highlands list MSP since 2007.
Notes: Given boundary changes since 2007, variations in votes and share between seats with different boundaries would be misleading. We use the Denver figures, essentially a calculation of the 2007 votes cast within 2011 boundaries. More information on this here.
