Formed from Edinburgh Central (75%), Edinburgh North & Leith (20%) and Edinburgh West (5%), this new seat saw one of the most surprising results of 2011 with the SNP’s Marco Biagi coming from a notional 3rd place to beat Labour and Lib Dems. Second-placed Sarah Boyack was elected to Holyrood via the Lothians list.
Notes: Given boundary changes since 2007, variations in votes and share between seats with different boundaries would be misleading. We use the Denver figures, essentially a calculation of the 2007 votes cast within 2011 boundaries. More information on this here.
