Elaine Smith bucked the trend on 5 May, returning to Holyrood with a secure majority, having first been elected in 1999. She will now serve her fourth term of office as one of the Scottish Parliament’s Deputy Presiding Officers. John Wilson made it back to Holyrood by winning a seat through the regional list. The Liberal Democrat candidate, Rod Ackland, lost his deposit.
Notes: Given boundary changes since 2007, variations in votes and share between seats with different boundaries would be misleading. We use the Denver figures, essentially a calculation of the 2007 votes cast within 2011 boundaries. More information on this here.
